TECHNICAL RESCUE

Our Rescue 3 International instructors will help you develop the technical river rescue skills you need to handle a river emergency. You will practice handling a swift-water emergency in class II-III whitewater. Choose the course that’s right for you.

RIVER RESCUER

The River Rescuer is designed for private boaters. This is an excellent course if you want an introduction to river rescue. We work on developing the skills needed for river runners!

The River Rescuer is a course designed for boaters. We work on developing the skills needed for river runners! This course is the best fit for people that run rivers and have some ability to read water. While we practice rescue techniques, the primary focus of this course is prevention of river issues by thinking and talking through river emergencies. The course has sections that focus on rafting, fishing, kayaking and paddleboarding. Make sure to let your instructor know your preferred craft so they can tailor the course to your needs. The course includes a certification and card as a River Rescuer through Rescue 3 International and the River Rescuer workbook.

Course Length: 2 Days

  • Class begins at 9:00am sharp unless notified otherwise. There will be time for breaks, most people prefer to bring a lunch.

RIVER RESCUER PRO

The River Rescuer is a course designed for professional river guides. The scenarios practiced and discussed in this class are pulled directly from common river issues that professional boaters encounter.

The River Rescuer Pro is designed for professional river guides or those interested in guiding. The scenarios practiced and discussed in this class are pulled directly from common river issues that guides encounter. The primary focus of the course is prevention and developing situational awareness that will help to minimize risks and shorten response times. The RRC-Pro also has a night time search component. The course includes a certification and card as a River Rescuer through Rescue 3 International, the River Rescuer workbook and a form documenting the participants performed skills and qualifications. (Great to have if you are intending to apply to work with an outfitter)

WHITEWATER RESCUE TECHNICIAN

The Whitewater Rescue Technician course is designed for agencies and commercial boating companies that need swiftwater rescue training with Rescue 3 International.

The Whitewater Rescue Technician course is designed specifically for agencies that respond to river emergencies or work around moving water. Groups such as National Park, Forest Service, and Fish and Game have all chosen the Whitewater Rescue Technician course to prepare employees.

Course Length: 2.5 Days

SWIFTWATER RESCUE TECHNICIAN

The common choice for fire, sheriff, and other professional agencies that will be responding to river emergencies primarily from shore but also in the water.

This is our most popular course for agencies. In the Swiftwater Rescue Technician, students learn the basics of Hydrology and survival in moving water. It is designed to prepare teams for swiftwater/flood emergencies. Students gain knowledge in hydrology and river classifications, size-up, site control and scene management. The SRT course also has a night time search component that forces teams to deal with common issues that arise working after the sun goes down.

Practical skills include self-rescue, swiftwater swimming and the fundamentals of shore, boat and in-water rescues. Additionally students are introduced to the basics of boat handling and the fundamentals of rope rescue including mechanical advantage and anchor systems.
