Our experienced ACA-certified kayak instructors are ready to challenge you with a safe and fun day on the water white water kayaking. Whether you're just looking to get started in the sport of white water kayaking, or its time to increase your skills by learning the kayak roll or kayak rescues, we're excited to paddle with you!

Need help perfecting your kayak roll or ready to learn to do some white water river kayaking? We are in West Glacier Montana and provide kayak instruction on the Middle Fork of the Flathead River boarding Glacier National Park.  We are ready to outfit and teach you the basics you will need as you progress in the sport of kayaking.  From our “Roll Clinics” to “Introduction to White Water Kayaking” can give you the knowledge and safety skills needed to get you from lakes to white water river running.

Our instructors offer some of the best white water kayak instruction available in Montana.  Our instructors are certified ACA (American Canoe Association) instructors.  From beginners to experts, we can tailor your kayak training needs to you.  Our goal is to make kayaking fun, safe, and accessible.  Watching our students progress from perfecting the kayak roll to play boating and surfing the waves inspires our instructors to teach and work on the river.   We love white water kayaking!

CUSTOM KAYAK CLASSES

At Glacier River School, we have found that developing boaters need individual attention for best results. Our instructors will work with you or your group to target the skills that you are looking to develop.

Whether you are just starting out and need to practice rolling on flat water or find a play wave to perfect your playboating skills, our instructors want to make sure you have the best location and opportunity to accomplish your goals. With that in mind, we want to make sure that your party gets the attention that you deserve. We do that by providing our classes in smaller groups. Many students begin with a single day of instruction and choose to add on more days to continue their skill progression. Overnight self contained and raft support trips available if you are interested in practicing your multi-day trip skills.

Course Pricing:

Pricing is based on number of people and amount of time requested. Fees based on actual time spent working on technique, both on water and dry land and the shuttle to the river. Depending on where you choose to work, your vehicle may need to be available for a shuttle. Glacier River School provides an appropriate amount of instructors as the number of students increases.   • 1 person – $225 (3 hours)  –  $350 (6 hours)
  • 2 people – $300 (3 hours)  –  $450 (6 hours)
  • 3 people – $400 (3 hours)  –  $500 (6 hours)
  • 4 people – $500 (3 hours)  –  $600 (6 hours)

ROLLING CLASSES

The Glacier River School is a great place to start learning the basics. Our American Canoe Association (ACA) certified instructors will walk you through the techniques that have been proven to work for many beginning kayakers.

Course Pricing:

Pricing is based on number of people and amount of time requested. Fees based on actual time spent working on technique, both on water and dry land and the shuttle to the river. Depending on where you choose to work, your vehicle may need to be available for a shuttle. Glacier River School provides an appropriate amount of instructors as the number of students increases. Kayaks, skirts, drytops, pfds, helmets, and paddles provided by Glacier River School.

  • 1 person – $50/hour
  • 2 people – $45/person/hour
  • 3 people – $40/person /hour
  • 4 or more people – $35/person/hour

  • The “Five Fundimentals” of Paddling Position/ Strokes
  • Strokes-Forward& back strokes, Sweep strokes, forward& back, C-stroke
  • Specialty strokes – Stern/ Bow Draw, Sculling Draw
  • Bracing- High/low
  • Wet exit
  • Bow rescues (T-rescues)
  • Rolling
  • Hip Snap
  • Edging
  • C-turn and S-turns
