Great Northern Policies

We reserve the right to cancel trips with full refund due to weather, water conditions, or too few participants.

Booking Policy for Rafting/Fishing/River School Daily Trips: A 100% deposit is due at time of booking to reserve your space. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the advertised departure times.

Booking Policies for overnight or multi-day trips: A 100% deposit is due at time of booking to reserve your space.  Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the advertised departure times.

Booking Policies for Group Trips: A 100% deposit is required at time of booking.  To qualify for group rates, payment must be submitted by a single party on behalf of the entire group.

Booking Policies for lodging reservations: A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking.  The remainder of your balance will automatically be charged to the card on file 45 days prior to lodging stay.

Peak Season 1&2 Bedroom Cabin and 3 Bedroom Cabin Booking Policy: When booked 1 and 2 bedroom cabins during peak season, any reservation booked online during peak season with less than the 3 night minimum will be charged the 3 night rate. The 3 bedroom cabin requires a 3 night minimum all season long so any reservation booked online with less than the 3 night minimum will be charged the full 3 night rate.

Payments and Deposits are accepted by Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, check or money order. A 8% Forest Service fee will be added to your reservation for river adventures. A 8% Montana State lodging tax will be added to your reservation for lodging stays.

Cancellation Policy for Rafting/Fishing/River School Daily Trips: For daily trips or classes, cancellations made more than 24 hours prior to trip departure will receive a full refund; cancellations less than 24 hours of departure are non-refundable, but the deposit may be applied to another trip during the same season. We reserve the right to cancel trips due to weather, river levels (too high or too low), or insufficient number of people (4 min.).

Cancellation Policies for overnight or multi-day trips: cancellations made more than 45 days prior to trip departure will receive a refund less 25% of the total amount paid; cancellations less than 45 days of departure are non-refundable but 75% of total may be applied to a trip within the following year. If paying with a credit card, the remainder of your balance will automatically be charged to the card on file 45 days prior to the reservation date. Cancellations the day of the trip departure or if a trip has departed will receive no refund. We reserve the right to cancel trips due to weather, river levels (too high or too low), or insufficient number of people (4 min.).

Cancellation Policy for cabin and lodge reservations: cancellations made prior to 3 PM 45 days prior to reservation date will be charged a 25% cancellation fee of the reservation total; No refund is given if the cancellation occurs after 3 PM 45 days prior to the reservation date but you will receive a Great Northern Resort credit of 75% of total which may be applied to a lodging stay within the following calendar year. If paying with a credit card, the remainder of your balance will automatically be charged to the card on file 45 days prior to cabin stay.

3rd Party Bookings: Please be advised that when booking lodging through online booking agents like the Expedia Group or Booking.com we must adhere to the cancellation policy agreed to at the time of booking.  The 3rd party cancellation policies agreed to at the time of booking may differ from the Great Northern Cancellation Policy as published.  3rd Party Cancellation Policies are not interchangable with the Great Northern Cancellation Policy.

Travel Insurance: Plan for the unexpected by purchasing Travel Insurance. Due to the short operating season we must adhere to these policies even in cases of last minute trip cancellations on your part due to personal injury, emergencies, health concerns, or unfavorable weather/environmental conditions. If any of these issues are of a concern, we recommend you purchase a travel insurance plan that will cover such instances.

You must have at least 10 people to qualify for a 10% discount. We ask that each group designate one person as organizer to communicate all aspects of each reservation. It is the group leader’s responsibility to inform each member about all details and payment policies related to the trip. Submit one form of payment to us, either credit card or one check or call and talk with our manager to make special arrangements.

Be sure that everyone in your group who is under 18 yrs. old submits their waiver form with a guardian’s signature prior to your arrival. No one will be permitted on the raft without the proper signature(s). These forms will be emailed to the group leader in advance. Set the date and time of your trip and call us to be sure that departure time is open. Then mail a check or call in a credit card number to secure the date. A trip confirmation will be sent in receipt of your 50% deposit and will indicate the balance which will be payable at the time of your rafting, fishing or kayaking trip. Please arrive at the time listed on your reservation, no need to come earlier than that! All river trips depart from our Great Northern Resort office. We are located 1 mile SW of the west gate of Glacier National Park on US Highway 2. Look for the Red Caboose! If you arrive hungry – our Caboose offers a variety of meal choices and snacks. We also sell a variety of heathy sandwiches, paninis, snacks and frozen yogurt for when you return from your river trip. Our Store has lots of riverwear, polarfleece, t-shirts, & river shoes. We have a variety of sunscreen, eyeglass retainers, caps, sunglasses and waterproof cameras.

Type V Approved lifejackets, complete rainsuits for adults and children, professional guides on every trip, delicious meals on specified trips and round-trip transportation is provided from our parking area. Please lock your belongings in your car and leave your keys with our office staff.

We rent wetsuits and booties. Booties are $2.50 for trips. Wetsuits are $5.00. Wetsuits & Booties together are $7.00. For all whitewater trips prior to June 1, wetsuits are mandatory and are included free of charge. We recommend wearing polarfleece or poly-pro with wetsuits and rainwear on cold days. We provide changing rooms for your convenience. We go rain or shine!

Swimsuit, shorts & shoes that you don’t mind getting wet, or you may rent our booties. Footwear must be worn on the river. No flip flops or slip-ons. Sandals are available in our retail store. A suggested packing list will be sent for overnight trips. Please notify your guide if you are taking personal medication or have medical conditions that we should be aware of.

All guests must sign a liability and assumption of risk waiver form. Although every precaution is taken to safeguard you and your belongings, river trips by their very nature involve a certain amount of risk. Great Northern Whitewater, Inc. and its personnel shall assume no responsibility whatsoever for injuries, damages, losses or delays to persons or properties. Great Northern Resort is a member of all local Chambers of Commerce, the Glacier Country Travel Commission, America Outdoors, and the Worldwide Outfitters & Guides Association.
